Project Sunshine Update #22: Revisiting Baybay and Palompon (Leyte)

Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. ~ Norman MacEwan

School year 2014-2015 has begun and we wanted to wish our friends in Baybay and Palompon a bright year ahead by giving school supplies.

This was made possible through the generous donation of Rizzy Cruz and family from New York, USA. They donated a lot of pencils and crayons last December 2013. Bright Start took a while to fill up a balikbayan box. As such, it was only shipped last April 2014. Still, a perfect time for the new schoolyear!

In Baybay, 46 pupils studying at Zone 21 Day Care Center received pencils and crayons. They were distributed by our young Bright Start volunteers, Marco and Xania. Big thank you to their mothers, Mitzi Ocañada and Iris Chiong for instilling the spirit of giving!

In Palompon, the Kinder, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students were given pencils. This was facilitated by their principal, Mr. Artemio Cardillo. Libeth Roche emailed us and had this to say, “This is from Palompon South Central School, in behalf of the central principal Mr. Cardillo, and the Kinder, Grade I-II Teachers, were are honored and thankful for your continuous generosity to us. The children were very happy as they received their new pencil. God will continue to bless your organization as you share your blessings to others. God bless and more power.”

Thank you Rizzy! Our Bright Start Hero!
