Bright Start Hero Launches Operation Webster

“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” ~ Maya Angelou

What better way to celebrate your birthday than to launch an outreach project for the children? One of our Bright Start Heroes, Wella Crowder (Virginia, USA), did just that!

And we are doubly delighted that our new project – Operation Webster - coincides with DepEd’s National Reading Month. It also complements our Bright Readers Project wherein we give books to children studying at public day care centers, public elementary schools, and SPED centers catering to low-income families.

The environment plays a crucial role in the development of schoolchildren. Books especially dictionaries enable their active participation in school and would enhance learning.

The 105 dictionaries and 21 science reference books will be placed inside the Grade 3 classrooms' mini-libraries such that the students can easily access them. The turnover to the Grade 3 level teachers of Lahug Elementary School, Cebu City was done yesterday, November 10, 2014. Dr. Joelyza M. Arcilla, the school principal, and Mrs. Gina Labrador, head of the SPED Center facilitated this event. Their efforts are very much appreciated.

We are also truly grateful for the continued support Mrs. Wella Crowder has been giving Bright Start. And we wish you once again a Happy Birthday.

To God be the Glory!
